लन्दन – दास्ताने-शहर
ज़मीं से लगाओ कान अपने
और सुनो सडे गोश्त की चीख़ें बेहिसाब
किसी लोहार और पहिये के कारीगर के आपसी झगड़े
किसी मूँज-जावेरी क़तरे का फ़न
तुम्हारी आँखें तिलमिलाने लगेंगीं
लकड़ी के गन्ध से
किसी अजन्मे के मूतर से धुली अमोनिया
की जलन से लगेंगी रिसते
इन सबके नीचे तलहटी में कहीं
दबे है – बोदिका के इन्तक़ाम के निशान
जले हुए लोहे के महीन, सुर्ख़ टुकड़ों में
फटे हुए पत्थरों और तेल पर खिंची राख और मिट्टी की लकीरों को —
और अब
पेड़ हैं निढाल पूरब और पश्चिम के बीच
दबी हुई गारे-सी मुलायम नहर के भीतर
जो एक नदी थी कभी परवरिश करती उस आदिमानव को जो
जो एक गूमंतु था नितान्त एकाकी लाखों वर्ष पहले
पंद्रह हज़ार वर्ष पहले की एक कुटिया जो आये वक़्त हो गई तब्दील असंख्यों
ज़बान वाले शहर में – एक ऐसा शहर
जो अपना ले हर किसी को
शिकारी हो या किसान
या वो जिसे कर दिया हो बे-दख़ल

Hindi
is one of the Indo-Aryan languges and is cultivated in two forms which could be called two languages even though there is not much significant difference between them. The twin language is Urdu. Hindi is the fourth most spoken first language in the in the world, after Mandarin, Spanish and English If counted together with the mutually intelligible Urdu, it is the third most-spoken language in the world, after Mandarin and English. There are about 571 million Hindi speakers world wide.
