THE REEK OF ALCHEMY

Reek of Alchemy

Three poems concerning Enfield, the industrial heritage of Brimsdown and  life in a small jobbing metal finishing company. 28,000 manufacturing jobs were destroyed in the 1980s.  The town that invented the thermionic valve, the thermos flask, the first wire wound radiant electric fire, the first manufacture of light bulbs lost almost all its manufacturing companies.

The pamphlet was published by Hearing Eye in 2008. a lovely edition printed by letterpress and hand-stitched.
